White Deer of Autumn (Gabriel Horn) is currently a college professor in writing and literature, and was one of the original teachers who helped establish the American Indian Movement Survival Schools in Minnesota. He helped to establish the Minneapolis American Indian Art Gallery and the Living Traditons Museum.

He is a member of the National Commitee on American Indian History and an advisor to the Native American national newspaper, Indigenous Thought. A prolific writier, his books are well known and loved throughout the Native American community and serve as a bridge into culture for all to understand.
