Gregory Plotnikoff, MD, MTS, FACP, serves as an integrative medicine physician at the Penny George Institute for Health and Healing and as a co-editor of the journal Global Advances in Health and Medicine. He is the recipient of several international awards for research and teaching as well as the Early Career Distinguished Achievement Award from the University of Minnesota Medical School.
Greg is a graduate of both Harvard Divinity School and the University of Minnesota Medical School. He has advanced training in hospital chaplaincy, medical acupuncture, secondary plant metabolites and Kampo, traditional Japanese herbal medicine. He is the author or co-author of 23 textbook chapters, 60 articles/editorials in the medical literature and the new book, “Trust Your Gut” (Conari 2013).
Greg helped establish the University of Minnesota Center for Spirituality and Healing and served as its first medical director. From 2002-2008, Dr. Plotnikoff served as an associate professor at Keio University School of Medicine where he studied, researched and taught the Kampo herbal medicine tradition. In Japan, he was active in East-West medical integration issues with the Japanese Society of Oriental Medicine, National Geographic and the World Health Organization. Currently, he is active in Interventional Nutrition and microbiome research.
