Teaching Future Doctors About Holistic Medicine VOD

John Neely, MD, received his MD degree from Penn State University. Following training in Pediatrics and Pediatric Oncology at the University of Minnesota, Dr. Neely practiced Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and, subsequently, as Division Chief of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology for nearly 20 years at Penn State Children’s Hospital. He also served as Chair of Pediatrics and Interim Chair of Humanities in the College of Medicine.

He modified his career path 10 years ago through training in Integrative Holistic Medicine and Functional Medicine. Dr. Neely currently spends half his time practicing Hematology/Oncology (including a holistic medicine consultation clinic), and half his time practicing and teaching Integrative and Functional Medicine. He has an active holistic medicine consultation practice, seeing both adults and children in Family Medicine and patients at the Women’s Breast Center. Dr. Neely is a past board member of the AHMA. In addition to board certification in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, he is also certified by The American Board of Integrative Holistic Medicine (ABIHM) and is in the inaugural class of “IFM Certified Practitioners” through education and testing by the Institute for Functional Medicine.
