I hope that reading my story and having a picture of where I have been, where the struggle started, and how it manifested gives you inspiration about what’s achievable. You have the power within to transform and heal your life just as I did; you just need to learn how.
Therefore, let’s shift to how I learned to heal myself, how I got off and stayed off antidepressant and antianxiety medications, how I stopped self-medicating through unhealthy behaviors, and how I began living a full and rewarding life.
Once I decided to reach out to the alternative health community, I consulted with more than thirty different types of healers: acupuncturists, naturopaths, herbalists, homeopaths, psychics, shamans, medical intuitives, Reiki practitioners, astrologers, and more. Some of the things I tried were downright odd, but this is what a desperately ill person does. And I learned something about my mind, body, and spirit from each healer. All the therapies I experienced eventually gave me the framework to curate an effective and holistic wellness program. Through trial and error, research, recommendations, and practice, I discovered the essentials that have become the basis for what this book teaches.
Learning to heal myself through natural means, I came to the profound realization that my healing path is a lifelong process. The motivation and desire to be happy and healthy in the most natural way possible stemmed from an authentic part of myself, and it is from this authenticity that real change lasts forever. I also came to discover that healing does not have to be expensive, dramatic, or complicated. Healing can be inexpensive, drama free, and simple.
By “simple” I do not mean easy; though I don’t consider my process difficult by any means, it does take dedication. Most people are looking for a quick fix, or a pill to make their life better, or the next fad diet, or a guru who will change their life forever. People look everywhere outside themselves in order to avoid facing the truth of what is inside. I want to tell you that there is power in simplicity and there is strength in building a foundation from within.
I am asking for your time and dedication to do the work.When you do this work and follow the practices, you are declaring to the Universe, “I want this; I am ready.”The Universe will respond in kind. It is in your actions that you speak volumes, and I will tell you from firsthand experience that this works. I teach a healing process involving your entire being—mind, body, and spirit. For me, Spirit is not used in a religious context. It is a place deep within me that knows all on a soul level—a healing place within the soul. But Spirit can mean whatever you want it to mean.
Whether you want to be happy and stay happy, find relief from depression and anxiety, or create change in some other aspect of your life, this process will stir the pot and give you opportunities to take action and make real changes. It is important to remember that change and the answers we are looking for often show up in ways we don’t expect. I will teach you to go with the flow, allowing these experiences to show up in your life and handling them like the old soul that you are.
In this book, I am going to teach you an easy-to-follow, gentle healing program that can change your life—provided you dedicate time each and every day to it. There is no right or wrong about how much time you give, as that is up to you to personalize. This healing foundation I offer will only work for you if you dedicate time and attention to it, because it is in your action that you open the gateway to change.
It is said that teachers teach what they need to learn. It is also said that when the student is ready, the teacher will show up. I have spent my life up until this very moment learning in depth what is contained in this book, and it is my offering to you—to help guide you on your way. I have never considered myself a teacher but more of a friend who shares information to help others. And you have bravely shown up, so let us begin.
