Jamie Harvie: Community Connection and the Ecology of Health

Jamie Harvie, PE, is the Executive Director of the Institute for a Sustainable Future (ISF). Jamie led the successful national mercury elimination campaign including negotiations with the top US retailers to voluntarily eliminate the sale of mercury thermometers. He founded a nationwide collaboration of NGO, clinician and healthcare partners, to create healthcare food policy and practice change prevention models and served on the Green Guide for Healthcare, the sector’s first green design metrics. He recently launched the Commons Health Challenge resulting in Minnesota hospital sugar-free beverage policies.

Jamie received the NRDC “National Thought Leader” award and “Top 20 Most Influential” by Food Service Director Magazine and has consulted on pollution prevention for clients including the City of San Francisco, World Health Organization and the Chinese Environmental Protection Agency. He is the author of numerous journal articles and is a contributor to the textbook Integrative Medicine.
